Andrey Rublev is the Winner of Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters 2023

Andrey Rublev has been a fixture in the world’s Top 10 for over two years. But it was Sunday on Court Rainier III when he stepped into the sun and became an ATP Masters 1000 titlist for the first time. Andrey Rublev became a winner of Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters 2023 when he overcame teenager Holger Rune 5-7, 6-2, 7-5.
The fifth seed prevailed in a clash between two of the biggest ball-strikers on the ATP Tour. Rublev struck 33 winners and rallied from 1-4 in the third set to earn the 13th and most significant title of his career after two hours and 34 minutes. Rublev sealed victory with his fifth match ace, dropping to the floor in celebration.
“I have tears,” Rublev said. “I don’t know what to say. I am so happy. I have been struggling so much to win a Masters 1000 tournament. Trailing 1-4, 0/30, then saving break points, thinking there is no chance to win. But somehow, I did it.”
Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters 2023 was held from 9-16 April at the Monte-Carlo Country Club in Monte Carlo, and it is an annual tennis tournament for male professional players and part of the ATP Tour Masters 1000 on the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Tour. The Monte Carlo tennis championship was first held in 1897. The tournament is played on clay courts and held annually in April–May.
