Golden Globe Awards’ Insides From Aliia Roza
The 80th Golden Globe Awards was special in many ways. Not only this was the night that kickstarts Hollywood’s annual award season, but this year was also the first time the event was broadcast on television after 2021.
The Golden Globes Awards 2023 were held at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, and hosted by Jerrod Carmichael. Some of the night’s presenters were Tracy Morgan, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Billy Porter, and Quentin Tarantino.
During the ceremony, legendary actor Sean Penn introduced Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who joined via video call to address the star-studded gathering. Penn, who had recently gifted one of his Oscars to the President, said, “Freedom to dream is not only a luxury,” before presenting the video speech.
As a woman empowerment activist, I was so happy to see winners Cate Blanchett ( Tar), Angela Bassett (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once), and Jennifer Coolidge ( White Lotus) – all actresses that are past their 50s and have been acting for decades.
Ageism is hopefully becoming a thing of the past, and women of all ages are now getting great roles. It is incredible to see the Women Empowerment Movement in Hollywood!
