New Baltic 80 Custom Announced Ahead of METS

Baltic Yachts is delighted to announce a contract for a new Baltic 80 Custom as the company prepares for the Marine Equipment Trade Show (METS) from 15-17 November

As the global yachting industry convenes in Amsterdam this month for METS, the world’s largest marine trade show, Baltic Yachts can reveal details of its latest new-build commission, the high-performance Baltic 80 Custom from the board of judel/vrolijk.

Commissioned by an experienced yachtsman, who is building with Baltic Yachts for the first time, the Baltic 80 Custom will be a multi-role yacht capable of fast offshore cruising and excellent performance on the race course.

Henry Hawkins, Baltic Yachts’ executive vice president, said: “She’s a particularly sleek and sporty looking yacht and could be regarded as a ‘new generation 80’ in a size range which has recently been attracting attention from clients. A lot of design work has been done to produce what should be a great performance cruiser-racer.”

The new yacht, designed by renowned naval architects judel/vrolijk, features a distinctive reverse angle stem and a maximum beam that is carried right aft. She is designed with twin rudders, a lifting keel, and a conventional propulsion unit driving a folding propeller. A large stern garage will house a jet-driven Williams 395 tender.

In cruising mode, the Baltic 80 will be an easy yacht to sail with a self-tacking jib set on a wide track.

Decisions have yet to be made regarding rig design and manufacture, although she will be fitted with in-boom furling. Her streamlined, low-level coachroof incorporates a fold-down dodger and bimini for cockpit protection.

The yacht’s accommodation is for six guests in three double cabins with a further cabin for two crew. Baltic Yachts is designing and build the interior.
