The Davis Cup 2023 – World Group II Play-offs Monaco vs Dominican Republic
The Davis Cup by Rakuten – World Group II Play-offs Monaco vs Dominican Republic tie will take place at the Monte-Carlo Country Club on February 4th and 5th, 2023 announced by the Monegasque Tennis Federation.
The Davis Cup, founded in 1900 by Dwight Davis, is the premier international team event in men’s tennis and the largest annual international team competition in world sport. The competition is run by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and is described as the “World Cup of Tennis”. The winners are referred to as the World Champion team.
Monaco first participated in 1929 and by 2016 135 nations entered teams into the competition. Last year the Monegasque team won 4-0 against Morocco in World Group II – Play Off but unfortunately, lost 3-2 in Lebanon in September 2022.
This year the Monegasque team will face for the first time the Dominican Republic team. The winner of this round will qualify for the 2023 Davis Cup World Group II in September 2023.
The event will be open to the public.
The competition schedule:
Saturday February 4th, 2023 (11am.):
Single 1 followed by Single 2
Sunday, February 5th, 2023 (11 am):
Double Simple 3 and Single 4
The names of the selected players will be announced in later January.
